Pedestrian Zone

Pedestrian Zones in France are fun places to shop and sample local culture and cuisines as a tourist or a citizen. Being predominantly specified pedestrian areas you are likely to find a number of locally made souvenirs that can add a charm to your holiday shopping unlike store brought gifts.

France has a number of such zones in most of its major cities Metz tops the list in terms of activities and shops and side walk cafes. Metz Lorraine is a major tourist and shopping destination with the widest possible selection of pedestrian zones that have been retained with an added element of safety. These Pedestrian zones are pollution free routes among some of the most historic locations within the city.

Metz has banned cars in pedestrian zones and environmentalists’ world over have encouraged this movement and have started to adopt this practice in some of the heavy traffic areas of their respective cities as well.

The Gros Horloge was the first recorded pedestrian area in Rouen, France. The Metz pedestrian zones are like permanent carnivals with shops, road side cafes and a range of cultural activities and acts.

Sitting at one of the cafes you can watch the world go by and see some serious shoppers struggle with their bags for space among the crowded street or look up to see your self surrounded by one of the many architectural buildings in that quarter.

It is the hub of the city and people can be seen walking or sitting at cafes throughout the day and sometimes even during the late hours of the night. Shops sell souvenirs, books, clothes, antiques and almost every other commodity among the series of lanes and by-lanes. There are also all types of street performances that can keep you occupied and entertained for hours.
